The Department of Physics, the first science department of the college, has been established in the year 1998 with an intake of 29 students. The department provides Bachelor of Science in Physics with complementary courses Mathematics and Computer Science.  Department offers academic programmes and training opportunities that enhances the ability and employability of the students. The department has implemented an effective tutorial system, which build a cordial atmosphere in the department and strong relationship between students and teachers. This helps the teachers to understand each student and to provide individual attention. The remedial coaching provided by the department offers support to weak students.
There are four permanent highly qualified faculty in the department with more than twenty years of experience. One faculty has Ph. D, another has M. Phil and other two are currently doing Ph.D. The department organizes seminars and workshops every year with the financial support of UGC and DCE. The department has a well-equipped, spacious general physics laboratory and a computer laboratory with 5kVA UPS support.
From the year 2024 onwards, the department provides Four Year Undergraduate Programme (FYUGP) with Physics Major and Chemistry, Mathematics, Computer Science, English, Malayalam, Economics, Hindi, Statistics and Political science as minor options.
